Well, that’s why.  Trackers make more sense to me then hire ‘smart’ agency bro to monitor your potential consumer actions and use your tricks to stay cool for other clients. In case you are not familiar with trackers, scroll further (a little knowledge is a dangerous thing), if you are ip crowd level, than you see my point.  All information you gather will come in handy and will ease a user to take action next time he visits you. If you divide purchase into several steps, they must be quick-to-fill&fast-to-deal. Anyway if you loose a consumer on some step, in case you have tracked you will know why and can easily fix it.

Tracking allows analysing every step of multi-stage purchase and optimizing it regarding track statistics data.
